For the safety and well-being of our clients, our therapists, and our community we are temporarily closing the physical office and offering counseling sessions through TELEHEALTH ONLY, starting Thursday 03/19/2020 and continuing UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE. This is not likely to change the dates or times of your appointments. Your therapist will be in touch with you, via text or phone call to confirm whether you want phone or video sessions, or if you'd like to reschedule after we remove the telehealth restriction.

Telehealth Counseling:

In a previous email, I told you that you could use your computer for your session. This is incorrect.  We use a HIPAA compliant software that requires the end-user to use the app, so you have to use the HIPAA-compliant app called SpruceHealth to video conference with your therapist. I’m including the instructions as an attachment again on this email. And your therapist will be able to help you with any questions you may have.

If you are a private pay client your rate for a telehealth session is the same as if you came to the office.

You ARE covered for telehealth if you have:

If you have PHCS/Multiplan, you will need to call your insurance to determine if they will pay for a behavioral health telehealth appointment. Get the name of the representative with whom you speak the rep’s name and a reference number for the call, should there be issues with claims.

If your health insurance company does NOT provide coverage for behavioral health telehealth counseling, you may advocate for this by calling Governor Kevin Stitt’s office at 405-521-2342 or send an email at

This is a measure than none of us at Empowered Life Counseling wanted to take, but we are sure that you all understand that this health crisis is only going to get better sooner than later if we all minimize our contact with others.

For encouragement during this time, we invite you to read our latest post concerning taking care of your mental health during a pandemic. You can find it by clicking the button below.
